The Elizabethan Era beliefs and superstitions came from religion, past beliefs and superstitions and the belief in magic. Many superstitions that affected the daily life of Elizabethans are still in our lives right now.
Usually when someone sneezes in school, someone or other would say 'Bless You'. This is part of the superstition that when you sneeze, you say 'God Bless You' to ward off the Devil entering your mouth when you sneeze. When we react to the sneeze and say 'bless you', we are continuing a superstition from the Elizabethan Era. What we now do from politeness, early Englishmen did to protect their fellow friends from spiritual harm. Another superstition carried on to the current time is touching wood to ward off bad luck. There are many more beliefs and superstitions carried out today without noticing that it was there centuries ago.
